John R. Tomlinson

Mr. Tomlinson has spent the last 35 years working as counsel to companies in the areas of construction, real estate, insurance, and governance. He has litigated or been involved in the litigation of literally hundreds of construction and real estate disputes representing the interests of developers and owners as well as contractors and subcontractors. These disputes range from change order claims to material breach, and every aspect in between. Mr. Tomlinson has served as first-party insurance coverage counsel, both for and against insurance companies and insureds.

Mr. Tomlinson routinely works on projects in both the private and public sectors. He is involved from the early conception of the project, drafting of contracts, securing and reviewing financing, and all aspects of construction through to occupancy. He works with both contractors and homeowners on condominium claims and defense of claims.

Mr. Tomlinson also works with many commercial property management companies and provides legal services for all types and manner of problems associated with commercial leasing and landlord/tenant issues. In this regard, he acts as counsel in debtor/creditor disputes and represents hundreds of landlords in matters concerning their tenants from lease negotiation to lease enforcement.

Mr. Tomlinson is widely recognized as a preeminent litigator and he is called upon to try or arbitrate cases in various courts and tribunals throughout the country and is a past Washington Super Lawyer. Additionally, Mr. Tomlinson has arbitrated many cases involving construction defects and disputes.
